Drift Nutz area D

Posted in Uncategorized on September 8th, 2008 by admin

I was very exited to attend this comp held by Drift Nutz at Speed Tech. I had a good time even though I had my wisdom teeth pulled out a few days before the comp. There was no way I was going to miss this comp because of a little pain. The track layout was very interesting, it was kind of like a spiral. I had never drifted in a track like that and at first I thought I wasn’t going to be able to drift well. After a few laps I knew this was not the day for my DP. I decided Read more »

Redline

I had so much fun at this 2 day event. After much anticipation for the big time attack at full grip, I finally got to get my grip on. After so much tunning from the past previous weeks, I had a setup that I felt comfortable taking to the track . As I checked out the track and took a few laps things couldn’t feel better…I guess I spoke to soon. 5 minutes before I was up to do my qualifying run, I hit something while taking a turn and I broke the steering arm and my motor

Adapting for nationals

Posted in Uncategorized on August 11th, 2008 by admin

Well setting up for nationals was going to be easy … Until they decided to change the type of tires we are competing with. Changing the tires 2 weeks before the comp really sucks. I guess its time to adapt. I don’t mind using either tire, but this will be the 1st time competing with yoks . In my opinion that surface is best suited for type t’s since they are a bit faster than the single rings . After a weekend of setting up at zero one / driftspeed with single rings, they are not that bad . It only took a few tweaks in the setup board and my DP and Cyclone are good to go…I feel bad for the people that are not local because they cant get practice runs on the surface.

Broken parts before competition

Posted in Uncategorized on July 16th, 2008 by admin

Whats the worst that can happen 2 days before comp? Well in my case I was tuning my chassi and getting it ready for time attack changing out  some new belts and such  when  i discover that my diff had a broken screw luckily I had a spare to replace it with but i cant Imagen what would happened if I didn’t ,specially since HB parts are rare in hobby shops and and online order would almost be impossible to get here before comp . Just goes to show always check your ish before comp . lol

Traxxas Slash

Posted in Uncategorized on July 7th, 2008 by admin

I know this is only supposed to be about Drifting, but what else is a Drifter suppose to do when Drifting season is over? Well Since the season for Drifting is slowly coming to halt I decided to pick up on Grip and Off-road as my new RC fix. For my 1st off-road chassis I decided to go with the Traxxas Slash. It’s a pretty fun truck that looks pretty tuff and the price is great for RTR, its only 200 bucks. I decide to take out my slash to OCRC for a test run. The track was setups just right for this truck all the jumps were pretty nice and the table top was the best. It was a bit hard to get some air with this chassis, since it only has a 12t motor, but when setup right it caught some air. Over all I had a fun time and I only broke one part, the rear shock tower. Also, one thing I recommend you can do to improve this chassis dramatically is changing out the shock oil to a weight more heavier like 50 or so, that made the biggest difference for me when recovering from jumps.
Can’t wait to hit the dirt track next weekend.

Here’s a few pics of the OCRC track and my slash enjoy

Tuning for speed

This weekend Beroll and I spend most of our time tuning our grip cars for the redline event . There were some trial and error on the setup but after a few hours of tuning the chassis feels ready to hit the track.

One Big problem I had this weekend was the availability of Hotbodies parts around town . I called tons of hobby shops and no one had anything, either they didn’t carry HB or they were just out of them. This made me think that maybe the Cyclone is not the best choice for a chassis, but we will see maybe it was just one of those weeks where all the shops are restocking …
